Amnesty International Art Awards

Breaking NEWS: Peter has just won the 2nd price in the Amnesty international "Freedom Art Prize" peoples choice award.

During the Gala Presentation held at the Tap Gallery in Darlinghurst on the evening of Saturday the 28th of January 2006 it was announced that the Peoples choice 2nd price Award should go to the painting named "Refugees" by Peter Sesselmann.
The Freedom Art award is an annual event aimed at increasing awarenes of Amnesty international and the work they do.
"Human rights are everyones business" and "Freedom" were the two main themes for the evening. Peter says he is delighted with the Award, especially as the quality of work on display was exceptionally high.
It is really good to see that "Real Art" is still alive and kicking, and that an artists job is not only to decorate but to document what is happening in society and the world, and maybe even change it through creating awareness. Since art is a creative process, why not create awareness as part of the process.
Peter says that the Award winning painting is still for sale, by contacting the gallery or Peter directly. All profits from the sale will go to Amnesty International.
