Highly commended for a figurative painting of a Japanese girl Akiko at the April annual members exhibition. TUITION Steven began drawing at an early age, but started his formal painting and drawing tuition in the 1950s. Since arriving to Australia in 1965, Steven has studied with various teachers and artists including Betty Morgan(1980-1986) who was once a student of Datillo Rubo. Since joining the Royal Art Society(Lavender Bay, Sydney) in 1997, he has been tutored by eminent Australian art teachers such as Fred Bates, Allan Hanson, Bob Baird, Leyla Spencer and more recently Ann Cape. Sculpture studies with Roger Apt (1998-2000) have added to the three dimensional experience. Steven has also undertaken a variety of study trips to Europe (Italy, France Germany, Hungary, Spain) and Asia which have helped to enrich his cultural experiences and understanding. GENRE AND MEDIUM Portraiture, figurative works, abstract and landscapes. Oils, pastel, charcoal, pastel, mixed media. EXHIBITIONS AND COMMISSIONS Various art shows solo and group, mainly in Sydney Regular exhibitions for the Royal Art Society NSW. Solo exhibitions in Ffocus Art Mosman 1989, 1990, Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre 1991 and a joint exhibition with Thomas Lonyay in 1993. Primrose Park Arts and Craft centre 2005 Works in private collections: Sydney, Sweden, USA, Hungary and Switzerland. Two of his paintings has been selected by the jury in 2006 ,at the First World Exhibition of Artist Of Hungarian Origin Living In The West. 120 paintings were selected for the travelling exhibition out of 1000 entries Recently Group Exhibition at the Lane Cove Art Society.One work got commended .
